MEET THE TEAM
Chief Executive Officer
Tom Schultz is a Wall Street lawyer and investment banker turned pharmaceutical executive. He started as a lawyer with Mudge Rose Guthrie Alexander & Ferdon and, later, joined a boutique Wall Street investment banking firm that was acquired by National Westminster Bank.
In 1996, Tom completed a merger of the major producers of witch hazel and assumed the leadership of Dickinson Brands Inc., the resulting firm. Dickinson markets OTC pharmaceutical products and consumer packaged goods to major retailers across the United States. In 2013, he became president of CTPharma, one of Connecticut’s four licensed medical marijuana producers.
Tom is president of Connecticut’s medical cannabis producers’ association. He is also founder and president of the Canaan Foundation, which works on technology transfer initiatives for local schools in Kenya and Cameroon.
Tom is a graduate of Yale University, of NYU School of Law, and of the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton.
Chief Operations Officer
Rino Ferrarese is an expert at biotech manufacturing, having worked on vaccine development and production with Alexion Pharmaceuticals and Wyeth Vaccines. More recently, Rino was the regulatory compliance manager for American Distilling, a botanical extraction company with global distribution, producing Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients for Over-the-Counter drug and cosmetic formulations.
Rino is a Six Sigma Black Belt, an ISO Lead Auditor, a lean manufacturing specialist, and a graduate of the University of Connecticut. His FDA-regulated industry experience brings the capability to produce precise dosages of extremely high quality products.
Working together with the Yale School of Medicine among others, Rino & CTPharma have invested in cannabis drug discovery through its sponsorship of FDA-approved clinical trials and animal model studies.
As CTPharma’s Operations Manager, Kim Provera organizes and directs workflow through each department. Kim has a background in chemical, pharmaceutical, medical device, and over the counter product production. Each type of production requires significant concern with regulatory matters on adherence to high quality standards. Kim has developed and put into operation the quality management system under which CTPharma operates including the training of our production staff. Kim has worked for several ISO certified FDA-regulated organizations as an ISO Lead Auditor.
As the Security Director for CTPharma, Mark Kaczynski is responsible for the development and implementation of the security plan at the CTPharma facility and the secure transportation of CTPharma products to approved dispensaries. He also manages bank relationships, including operational consulting with relevant US Department of Justice and U.S. Department of Treasury guidance documents. Mark is also responsible for personnel and facility security, which includes the installation and operation of access control and video monitoring systems. He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and Pepperdine University School of Law.
Dr. Sali Barolli
Dr. Barolli is a certified agronomist with 35 years of experience. He has a deep background in Integrated Plant Management and Plant Protection. B.S.-Agriculture; Major -Plan Protection Agronomist and PhD-Entomology, with significant and successful research experience and several science reports/articles published. His prior experience in large plant production settings, research institutions, management strategies, and strength in applied science have made him successful in his endeavors. Commitment and extensive agricultural experience, and nutrition management have allowed Sali to significantly master his plant care abilities.
Sali is member of a number of research societies. and has been deeply involved with the community in leadership positions. Sali is an avid traveler and gardener.
Ryan Picard is the Laboratory Director of CTPharma applying the skills that he posses to develop new and pharmaceutically elegant medical cannabis formulations. Aligning science with nature to create world class cGMP medical products. Among his duties he oversees extraction, refinement, formulation and production optimization of all CTPharma products. He has developed in house analytical programs and real time PCR based genetic testing for efficient plant management. Prior to this role he spent the first 10 years of his career in the analytical and quality testing arena. Specializing in design and development of methods and products for FDA, USDA, AOAC, AOCS, and USP/EP regulated environments. He has extensive experience in pharmaceutical product design, formulation, and product R&D. He is a graduate of Merrimack College with a focus on Biochemistry and organic synthesis.
Nicole is the Sales Manager at CTPharma in charge of dispensary relationships, physician and patient outreach, education and business strategy. Nicole started her career at The Hartford where she spent 15 years working throughout most organizations from corporate to business lines in Marketing and Communications. She then joined the financial services and investment industry working as a CMO for two companies before moving to the medical marijuana industry at Arrow Alternative Care where she spent 2 years working in the dispensaries and with physicians in Connecticut. Nicole has her Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Nichols College.
Steve is a multidisciplinary Creative Director with over 20 years experience working for global brands, and over 9 years in creative / design direction roles. He is in charge of all creative and marketing/branding for CTPharma including social media marketing, photography, campaign strategy, and packaging. He’s been on award-winning teams and has been fortunate to work with many exceptionally talented people both agency and client side. A NYC transplant, he was formally trained as an illustrator + designer at Parsons School of Design. Throughout his career he’s been involved in design and branding initiatives for clients large and small, including Edible Arrangements, working with Jay-Z at Rocawear, JP Morgan, British Airways, MetLife, 1OAK and the Butter Restaurant Group among others.
Alicia Lincoln is the Accounting Manager of CTPharma. Before joining CTPharma she spent seven years in Edible Arrangements Corporate Headquarters, where she handled the accounting and financial reporting of the corporate owned stores as well as worked with the legal and operations teams when acquiring and selling corporate owned stores. She also assisted the IT department with the design and trouble shooting of the franchise facing accounting reports. Alicia has been in accounting for most of her professional career; she has worked with several small business to help improve their accounting and management methods, resulting in increased productivity and profitability. She is a graduate of Albertus Magnus College. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her husband and daughter whether they are vacationing at their favorite spot, exploring New England or relaxing at home.
